CHAMAEROPS HUMILIS "CERIFERA"
Synonym: Blue Palmetto.
A bushy palm tree developing several trunks from the base. Its fan-shaped leaves are rigid and have long, thin petioles loaded with glaucous lateral spines, its most distinctive feature. It is easy to grow and tolerant of a wide range of climates and conditions, easily resisting prolonged drought, as well as easily withstanding salinity and offshore winds. Given its hardness and rusticity, its growth is assumed to be slow.
The palm heart is one of the most representative elements of the Mediterranean vegetation of southwestern Europe and the only palm tree on the European continent. They are ideal for embellishing parks and gardens as an ornamental element.
